Se han seleccionado 750 escuelas estatales en Inglaterra y al menos unas 77 en Londres para ofrecer desayunos gratuitos a alumnos de primaria como parte de un programa piloto que comenzará en abril, con el objetivo de extenderse a nivel nacional.
Las escuelas ofrecerán desayuno gratuito y al menos 30 minutos de guardería antes de clases. Este plan, con un presupuesto de 7 millones de libras, busca mejorar el acceso a la educación y romper el vínculo entre el origen socioeconómico y el éxito escolar.
La secretaria de Educación, Bridget Phillipson, destacó la importancia de estas iniciativas, aunque el sindicato de directores de escuelas expresó preocupaciones sobre la financiación y su impacto en los presupuestos escolares.
